Library - Organs - Cardiovascular- Anomalous Right-sided aortic arch

This specimen is an example of anomalous aortic arch development resulting in a right-sided arch. The arch courses right from the ascending aorta, then posterior to the trachea and esophagus. The left subclavian artery originates from an "aortic diverticulum". Right sided aortic arhces, in their variuos forms, occur with a frequency of approximately 1/1000 births.
